We selected the scene from A Midsummer Night’s Dream where King Oberon and Queen Titania quarrel and grow jealous of each other over a child. To get back at her, Oberon instructs the fairy Puck to use magic on Titania, making her fall in love with the first creature she sees. As a result, she becomes infatuated with Bottom, a craftsman who has been transformed to have a donkey’s head.
This event was originally planned to promote theatre and puppetry on the streets of Shanghai, aiming to spark public interest in the performing arts. However, due to safety concerns and heavy foot traffic, the application for a street performance was not approved. In the end, we chose to walk the streets late at night when it was quieter, and documented the process through photos and videos to share and promote online.
